SchoolCenter Picture Library

Sandia Prep's library is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Its staff consists of two full-time professional librarians and two part-time technical specialists. The library's collection includes 16,500 books, periodicals, videos, DVDs, audio books, CDs, audiovisual equipment, and a special collection. There are subscriptions to 53 magazines and more than 1,000 newspapers and magazines are available online.

The library offers a complete computer resource center that enables students to perform word processing (on Microsoft Word), build spreadsheets (with Microsoft Excel) and create presentations (with Microsoft Powerpoint). Numerous other software applications are available.

Teachers use the library's computer lab and classroom for classtime curriculum integrated instruction.

The computer center also facilitates Internet access for research; through it, students are able to access the card catalogs of the University of New Mexico's Zimmerman Library, the University of New Mexico's Medical School Library and the Albuquerque Public Library. The library's home page offers links to hundreds of carefully selected curriculum-related web sites to help students with their research. Additionally, students have access to several online databases and e-books including JSTOR, NewsBank, The New York Times Historical Newspapers, Gale's Expanded Academic Index and EBSCO.
